Painting for March 6, 2013

6 x 6

As soon as this dozen is gone and I have finished the big painting of donuts,  I am going to have to find a subject with fewer calories.

We bought a dozen donuts today.  The only one I had to eat was the peanut one because it would have been  too hard to paint.

Painting a Day (from one day last week)

I worked on a big painting today.  My last post shows the big painting, but mainly I wanted to show a photo of the shadow box that my husband made for me.  I am very lucky to have such a nice husband.

Painting a Day

I tried to put each lemon at a different angle.  Painting yellow is always a challenge.  My plan is to do a big painting from this, probably 18 x 36.  I'm not sure if it look right bigger than life

These are frames that I just ordered from FRANKEN FRAMES.  I am very happy with them.  They are sort of modern looking and work well with the flat panels that I use for the 6 x 6 paintings a day.
I was also pleased with the great communication they provided and the prompt service.

Painting a Day - March 2, 2013

I started this one yesterday and finished it today.  I guess it doesn't qualify for "Painting a Day"

This is the first time I have painted a donut. What a great excuse to buy donuts.  Next time, a jelly donut.....

Painting a day, February 25, 2013

My photos are looking so washed out.  I need an intervention for my photo taking skills.  My husband is going to help me with this.  Look for this post again.  Plus I have discovered a new source of frames call Franken Frames. Tomorrow I will post a photo of the new frames I plan to use for the 6 x 6 sizes.  They are black and sort of contemporary looking.  The service from Franken Frames is outstanding and prompt.  The frames were very well packed and arrived in perfect condition.

Painting for Today, February 24, 2013

Yesterday I made a trip to the thrift store.  Here are two of my purchases.  I used construction paper for the flat surfaces which was suggested by Carol Marine in one of her ArtBytes on the Daily Painters website.

It is so dreary here that I thought doing a painting of the beach would be a good idea.

This is the second one of the Capitol that I did from the same photo (actually I've done several larger ones, too).  First, I see that the photo looks so much darker than the actual painting.  The one that was posted yesterday had more contrasting colors.   It's good practice to do the same thing a couple of times.  The big lesson is that I need to improve my photo taking skills.

Daily Painting
6 x 6
I've been trying to think of a good name for this.  Clouds over the Capitol?  Hard not to get political.

I did two paintings from the same photograph.  I'll post the second one soon.

I just finished painting this one.  It is heavier paint than usual and parts of it were done with a palette knife.   So far 23 paintings have been posted at Daily Paintworks.
