I am trying something new using  bigger brush strokes and more simplicity in design hoping to achieve a more abstract look.    Also, using a light background instead of dark that I use more often.  I think is good to experiment and try new things.

Red Geraniums in Window Box

This painting is used for the November Drawing held at my studio at LibertyTown Arts Workshop.  The entry forms are on the table in front of the painting.
It is framed in a wide black frame and the painting is a 6 x 8

... another effort to keep brush strokes big
This is my painting for today that includes two figs from my garden.
I am trying something new.  My brushwork was getting too tight so I am trying to use bigger brushes and  go for more abstract shapes.  Putting a brushstroke down once and resisting overblending is my goal.

I have been in a slump lately, having a hard time coming up with new subject matter. Studying other blogs and my art magazines has been inspiring.  Doing a painting a day to warm up without the pressure of a finished painting helps me, too.

Annabelle - sold

Annabelle Hydrangea. (not sure if that name is correct)  They have smaller petals than the rest of my hydrangeas.   I plan to try some bluish hydrangeas today, then some pink ones.
Different painting of same place on a smaller canvas.  For me it is good practice to paint the same scene several times.  I tried this one in watercolor, too.
